The weekend was cold and wet, which is not usual Southern California weather, so I spent a lot of time curled up on the couch wallowing in old movies and knitting. Made tremendous progress on both my Diagonal Jacket, with the right front now finished. I also finished the third section of my Shetland Pi Shawl and moved onto the fourth out of five.

There’s a bit of a problem, though. Both of these projects are in dark colors and after a while, my eyes were having a bit of trouble. Wrote my blog entry, did my discovery work for the day, and still wanted to do some knitting, so cast on a new project. It’s another Wendy Johnson design, this one knit from a single skein of Madelintosh Pashima yarn, a rather luxurious wool/silk/cashmere blend. I bought the skein specifically to use on this and I’ll confess I have actually been looking for an excuse to start.

The color is “Betty Draper Blue” and since I became enamored of Mad Men this summer, I couldn’t resist. Also, it’s a nice tonic from the large amount of purple that seems to be pervading all my projects at the moment. The pattern is garter stitch, so the knitting is moving very quickly and the yarn is a pleasure to use.

Just as I’m making time to read and time to write, I’m also making time for the knitting. Slowly but surely, I can feel the well begin to fill again.
